In a world where music creates unforgettable experiences, music festivals stand as vibrant showcases of artistic diversity and celebration. The music that pulsates through the ground and courses through our veins makes us feel alive. It lets our bodies be in the music and feel the devotion of those who created the song. Music brings people together, so here are some music festivals that are famous for their energy.
The Governors Ball is a renowned three-day festival that attracts roughly 150,000 people annually. It has been active for 12 years, because of its diverse lineup of singers and performers. Each day features different artists performing their top hits and occasionally covering popular songs they know their audience will enjoy.
This year’s Gov Ball will take place at Flushing Meadows Corona Park from June 7th to June 9th. On Friday, June 7th, the lineup includes Post Malone, Labrinth, Dominic Fike, and several others. Saturday, June 8th, will feature performances by 21 Savage, The Killers, Sabrina Carpenter, Sexyy Red, TV Girl, Carly Rae Jepsen, D4VD, and more. The festival will conclude on Sunday, June 9th, with main artists SZA, Renee Rapp, Don Toliver, Faye Webster, Stephen Sanchez, Cannons, and Beach Fossils, along with others.
Ticket prices for the Governors Ball range from $170 to $900, starting with one-day General Admission. There is also an option to purchase three-day tickets, which are more cost-effective than buying individual-day tickets. General Admission for all three days is $350. General Admission Plus, which includes unlimited access to a lounge with air-conditioned restrooms and concierge service, is $280 per day or $580 for three days. VIP tickets are priced at $400 for one-day admission and $900 for all three days, providing GA and GA+ benefits along with front-of-stage viewing for all performances.
There are numerous vendors who offer a diverse array of culinary options, including burgers, pizza, sweets, tacos, dumplings, and more. While the food tends to be on the pricier side, the large portions are substantial enough to keep you energized for several hours. There are complimentary water stations and restrooms. However, to stay stress-free, please note the important regulation concerning bags: all bags will be inspected before entering the festival. Bags larger than 6″ x 9″ must be clear and cannot exceed dimensions of 12″ x 6″ x 12″.
Gov Ball is known for its vibrant energy, great lineup, and organization. People often dress in unique outfits, creating an outgoing atmosphere that strikes conversations. The festival is a great opportunity to meet fascinating people who share a passion and love for music. There is singing, dancing, and laughter on every corner, uniting people from all boroughs of New York.
To have the best experience, it is advised to bring sunscreen, hand sanitizer for the germs, some sort of painkiller, tissues for mysterious liquids, a blanket for when your feet get tired, a portable charger, and a portable fan if it is a hot day. These are the necessities however, because this year’s location is a park with sand, a face covering is important. When watching popular singers perform hit songs, many enjoy jumping. Although it’s a fun energy to be around, the sand travels up and you begin to breathe it in for multiple hours. Having some sort of face covering can help prevent the infamous Festival Flu. The Festival Flu is similar to a cold that is caused by breathing in sand, screaming, and vibrations through speakers. It can cause body aches, runny nose, and headaches for a few days after the festival. However, maintaining proper hydration and energy levels can help avoid contracting this flu.
Although this festival is a unique and exciting experience, others may not be able to control their excitement. A student who decided to stay anonymous stated, “Moshpits can be very dangerous. Sometimes when everyone is jumping around, having a good time, and not paying attention to their surroundings, someone could get hurt.” Depending on the artist and the type of music playing, you should be aware of the people around you and what they are capable of doing. During rap songs, when moshpits start, many people can get pushed and seriously hurt. If you are already feeling drowsy or tired, enjoy the artist from a distance.
The Hot 97 Summer Jam 2024, held on June 2nd at UBS Arena, is a music festival featuring popular artists each year. Ticket prices range from $70 to $220. This festival is celebrated for its high-energy performances from hip-hop and R&B artists, which sends powerful energy that keeps the audience on their feet. The excitement is heightened by surprise guest appearances, light shows, bass, and stunning visuals. Attending Hot 97 Summer Jam is not only thrilling in the moment but also a chance to be part of a historic event in the hip-hop community. This year’s lineup includes Doja Cat, Sexyy Red, French Montana, A Boogie, Ty Dolla $ign, and more.
Lastly, the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, held on June 22nd this year, is not a music festival however, embodies the spirit of a festival. It is a nostalgic experience where children, parents, friends, and families can watch New Yorkers parading in bright costumes. This free event is an excellent way to spend a Saturday. Attendees can enjoy a day at the beach, partake in exciting rides, and choose from a variety of food options. Numerous street performers, including stilt walkers and jugglers, entertain the crowd with their outstanding talents. The parade is open to everyone, which allows all participants to showcase their artistic expression.
