The NBA playoffs’ conference finals roll on. The No. 1 seed from the East, the Boston Celtics, have secured an Eastern Conference finals berth for the sixth time in the last eight years and three in a row, after eliminating the No. 4 seed Cleveland Cavaliers in five games. The Celtics have advanced, and now they are facing the No. 6 Indiana Pacers after they eliminated the No. 2 New York Knicks in a seven-game thriller.
In the West, the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder had its season come to an end on Saturday, the 18th, having been eliminated by the No. 5 seeded Dallas Mavericks in six games. The other West matchup saw the No. 2 seed and defending NBA Finals champion Denver Nuggets fumble a 20-point lead on the 19th to lose game seven 98-90 to the No. 3 Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s Minnesota’s first trip to the conference finals since 2004 and, for the sixth consecutive season, the NBA will have a new champion. By far, we have had some entertaining playoff basketball.
The Eastern Conference Finals commenced on the 21st, and as of now, the Celtics hold a commanding 2-0 series lead over Indiana. Over in the West, the Mavericks have pulled out two clutch victories in Minnesota and have their own 2-0 series lead. These series, like the other ones, are best-of-7 series and will stream on ESPN and TNT. We are clearly reaching the end of the road here, so let’s enjoy the final games while they last. Remember, the 2024 NBA Finals, tip off on June 6 on ABC and the ESPN app.
